Kym Stelmachers

Q1. We would like to ask a short introduction about you, your company, and your website .
A1. As a diy bride myself, I took a $12K budget and turned my wedding into a elegant affair. That of course was in 2007, before DIY was what it is today. Because I had such a passion for wedding planning, I created and launched DIY Weddings® Magazine in 2010 in hopes of helping other brides who have a passion to DIY! Our "Lookbook" wedding publication is packed full of do‐it‐yourself projects, budget saving ideas, real weddings, style shoot inspirations, wedding food options, our favorite things, wedding accessories and professional advice from industry experts. ALL MAGAZINES ARE ADVERTISEMENT FREE!

Q2. What would be the most prevalent trend in events and wedding decoration for this year? (Particularly colors, design, themes, etc)
A2. Although it is a bit early to tell what the exact trends for 2015 will be, we have noticed an abundance of outdoor and backyard wedding submissions. Vintage and rustic are still strong themes using natural elements like wild flowers, burlap and baby’s breath.

Q3. What’s your dream or favorite event/wedding decoration idea for 2015?
A3. I love the nautical look. There is something about blue and white and how crisp that combo looks together. We had a couple who made these large wood anchors mixed with wild flowers as their centerpieces and they were simple yet elegant. A guestbook that was made out of a life preserver that all the guest signed. Nautical rope place card holders on the guest tables. A blue anchor as their cake topper. All cute and unique ideas.
